*After Jesus resurrected he spent 40 precious days with his
disciples and then he had to say good-bye. On this day
Jesus gave special instructions and made an important announcement
to his disciples.
Activity #1 Read The Ascension of Jesus Online
Here is a short
version of what happened on the day that Jesus said good bye -
The
Ascension of Jesus or read Bible scripture Acts
1:1-10 and Luke
24:50-53* On
the top of the page is the version for children 3+. Under that
is a very simple version for children under 4 years of age.
Please choose and adapt the version you feel the children are best
suited for.
* Some words have been marked with an asterisk (*). At
the end of the story you will find the meaning for these words to
aid you in explaining these words and concepts.
* The story of The Ascension is one of great joy. It would
seem quite sad to have to say good bye to Jesus so soon, but He does
promise to come back and He gives his beloved disciples very
important instructions. He instructs his disciples to spread his story
around the world.
Enjoy sharing this story with the children. Children always
have questions, it is good to be prepared.
To commemorate The Ascension of Jesus here are coloring pages and a
craft activity. Children three years and older can make a dove
craft to symbolize Jesus' triumphant "flight" into heaven
and children under three can decorate a dove coloring page. A
coloring page of Jesus giving his last message to the disciples is
for all ages. Activity #2: 2 to 3 year olds

decorate with a combination of tissue paper, scraps of construction paper or use water colors or finger paints.
Activity #2: 3 to 6 years olds -Dove Craft
To commemorate Jesus' Ascension let's make the dove craft in the
link suggested in the materials column. The dove can
symbolize Jesus' ascension to heaven as well as the message of love
he wanted his disciples to spread around the world.
Activity #3: Animals: Learn
about the Dove/Pigeon and practice the Letter D
While completing the dove activity (craft or coloring page), you can
include these
related activities where the children can learn about this beautiful
bird: the dove/pigeon that has come to symbolize love, unity and
peace, also practice the Letter D is Dove.
Activity #3: The Ascension Coloring Page
Print the coloring page which can be done as a separate activity to
reinforce the Bible story reading. The
