Hyena Paper Craft
Printable Activity 2

Materials:
- printer
- choice of paper: white, construction paper, card stock
- coloring tools for B&W template
- scissors
- glue stick
This is an easy craft to present the hyena and include within lesson plan activities in a theme of African animals or safari theme. It is suitable for toddlers, preschool and early elementary grades.
Printing options:
- Color template. Discuss colors on the template. Use as a teaching tool and for display. This is a good choice for toddlers to use as a puzzle and arrange the pieces without gluing.
- B&W template: Use a variety of coloring or painting tools. Paste additional accessories. Print template directly to a complimentary light color paper then color in the details.
- Count the number of pieces to assemble. Count the number of spots on the face (5), body (8), for total of 13 spots.
- Paste the head centered to the upper edge of the boy.
- Apply glue to the positions for the paws, then press the paw pieces in place.
- Apply glue to the tip of the tail, slide under the rectangle body on the right or left side and press to attach in place.
- Optional: Print letter Hh on the craft in a matching color.
Other decorating ideas:
- Tape the craft to a craft stick (Popsicle stick) to make a hand puppet.
- Add a looped ribbon, yarn or string to hang as a decoration.
