Alphabet Letter B Broccoli Preschool Lesson Plan Printable Activities and Worksheets

Broccoli is a plant whose green flower buds and stalk are used for food. Broccoli is vegetable related to the cabbage plant. Broccoli has substantial nutritional value with high contents of vitamin C and K. Broccoli @ Wikipedia.org

So why is it so hard to get kids to eat it? Well, it is all in the preparation. If my mom could trick me into eating it, surely anyone else can. First, it can't look like broccoli, it shouldn't even taste like raw broccoli or even steamed and should taste yummy and you want it again. Try a kid friendly recipe that has ingredients you already know your child likes.

Alphabet Activities:

Display the poster and your choice of printable activities. Discuss the poster, and ask what does it look like? Yes, it does look like a tree, but it isn't. That is what is so cute about broccoli stalks. What color is it? It sure is a bright joyful green.

Children Age 3 and under:

Print a letter B coloring page and a broccoli coloring page behind it or on a separate page if using finger paints to decorate later. Discuss other letter B words found on the worksheet.

Finger Tracing: Trace letter B's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page.

Children can trace and color the letter B's. After completing coloring the letter, encourage children to color the coloring page and write letter B b and the word broccoli on the margins.

Handwriting worksheet tips:

Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly.

During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process.

Have the children find all the letter B's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle them.
