Plants > Flowers > Daisy:

A daisy is a small, cheerful flower with white petals surrounding a bright yellow center, like a tiny sun with rays! You often see them growing in fields and lawns.

Fun facts about daisies:

  • Daisies are like tiny clocks! Their petals close up at night and open again in the morning when the sun comes out. That's why their name, "daisy," comes from an old English phrase meaning "day's eye."

  • They're super tough! Daisies can grow almost anywhere, even in cracks in the sidewalk. They don't mind if you step on them a little, and they usually pop right back up!

  • Daisies have two flowers in one! The yellow center is made up of lots of tiny little flowers, and each white "petal" is actually its own flower too! It's like a whole mini bouquet.

  • You can make a wish with a daisy! Some people like to pick off the petals one by one, saying "He loves me, he loves me not..." It's a fun game to play, even if you just wish for something sweet!

  • The daisy is the birth flower for the month of April. So, if your birthday is in April, the cheerful daisy is your special flower. Daisy @ Wikipedia.org.
