Color poster Who is a jester? A jester is a specific type of clown that was hired to tell jokes in royal courts mostly associated with the Middle Ages in Europe. Jesters often made fun of court life. They wore a distinctive floppy hat with three points and jingle bells called cap 'n bells. Other names for a jester are:  fool, buffoon/boufon, narr/naar or juglar Alphabet Activity > Letter J is for Jester Present and display your option of alphabet printable materials listed: Finger and Handwriting Tracing:  Trace letter J's in upper and lower case with your index finger as you also sound out the letter.  Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page or handwriting worksheet. Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and point to the numbers with arrows that help them trace the letter correctly. During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process. Find the letter J's: Have the children find all the letter J's in upper and lower case on the coloring page and encourage them to circle or trace/shade them first.
