A kitten is a young cat, and may also refer to both domesticated, wild cats and some other type of animal.

The presentation ideally should be part of cat - kitten, pets or animal babies themed activities and/or crafts.

Alphabet Activities:

Ages 3 and under:

Print a letter K coloring page D'Nealian or Standard Block font and a kitten coloring page behind it or attach to it. Discuss other letter K words found on the worksheet.

Finger tracing: Trace letter K's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page.

Children can trace and color the letter K's. After coloring the letter, encourage children to color the image and write the word kitten on the margin.

Ages 3+:

Worksheet and mini book program > Read suggested instructions for using the worksheet and mini-book. These can be used as part of Letter K program of activities to reinforce letter practice and to identify related K words.

Display letter K posters and coloring pages or make a letter K classroom book. For related images visit letter K printable activities.

Ages 4+ - Handwriting worksheet tips:

Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly.

During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process.

Have the children find all the letter K's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle them.

Learning colors: We colorized the kitten with Crayola: Yellow-Orange (body), Apricot (inner ears), and Cerulian (yarn) found in a 24-pack. Encourage children to learn the colors by looking at the crayon label.

Letter K Word Search & Handwriting Practice: The four word search game features a kitten and letter K words with pictures and handwriting practice.

Advanced independent handwriting practice:

Print your choice of printable lined-paper and encourage children to draw a kitten behind the page or print a kitten coloring page.
