Alphabet Letter P Puppy Preschool Lesson Plan Printable Activities and Worksheets

Ages 3 and under:

Print a letter P coloring page and a puppy coloring page behind it or attach to it. Discuss other letter P words found on the worksheet.

Finger tracing: Trace letter P's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page.

Children can trace and color the letter P's. After coloring the letter, encourage children to color the puppy image and write the word puppy on the coloring page.

Children ages 3+:

You can also display letter posters and coloring pages or make a letter P home or classroom book. For related images visit: Letter P printable activities.

Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly.

During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process.

Find the letter P's: Have the children find all the letter P's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle them.

Learning colors: We colorized the puppy with Crayola: Apricot (body) and the spots with Brown found in a 24-pack. Encourage children to learn the colors by looking at the crayon label.

Print your choice of printable lined-paper and encourage children to draw a puppy behind the page or print a puppy coloring page.

Drawing and writing paper (ages 5+) Encourage children to draw and color a puppy and write letter P p.
