A scarecrow is one of a number of devices used as a bird scarer primarily to keep birds from eating the seed recently planted by farmers. It has become a universal symbol for farming. Here is a S is for Scarecrow to practice letter recognition, color practice and
problem solving skills.Present the color poster, select and print the activities of your choice. Children age 3 and under:Print this toddler coloring page with large bubble font, color, paint or, Print a letter S coloring page and a scarecrow coloring page behind it or on a separate page if using paints to decorate later. Discuss other letter S words found on the activity worksheet. Trace letter S's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page. Children can trace and color the letter S's. After completing coloring the letter, encourage children to color the image. Write the word scarecrow on the margin. Handwriting worksheet tips: Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly.
