| What is gingerbread?
Gingerbread is a type of cake or cookie flavored with ginger and molasses. Ginger is the root of a tropical plant, used as a spice to flavor food. Molasses is a thick, sweet dark brown syrup made from sugar cane. Gingerbread man is a biscuit or cookie made of gingerbread, usually in the shape of stylized human. These originated in England, and have been adapted to various seasonal themes and holidays, such as Christmas, Halloween or Easter. This classical fairy tale has endless possibilities for activities and topics. Here are some suggested activities and various resources. Activity: Alphabet Letter G is for Gingerbread Present and practice soft letter G is for Gingerbread which is an appropriate activity with this story. You may also want to present alphabet activities related to the animals in the story version selected. Materials: Gingerbread Man or Woman Patterns · Templates: These patterns are suitable for numerous crafts and learning activities: name tags, sizing, counting, sorting, lacing, bulletin boards, garlands and more.. Print on sturdy paper to use as stencils that children can trace on brown paper bag or print directly to brown construction paper and children can cut out.
