ABOUT FLAMINGOS:
  1. Pink as a Flamingo: Flamingos aren't always pink, believe it or not! They get their famous feather color from the tiny shrimp and algae they love to eat. These foods have special pigments that turn their feathers pink over time, like a natural pink highlighter!
  2. Salty Shores: Flamingos are wading birds, meaning they spend their days in shallow water. They're mostly found in salty lakes and lagoons of warm places around the world, especially in Africa, the Americas, and even Europe!
  3. Fancy Footwork: Those long legs aren't just for standing! Flamingos use them to stir up the water with their webbed feet, making it easier to find their yummy shrimpy snacks. They can even stand on one leg for long periods, like a feathered flamingo ballerina.
  4. Flocking to America: Flamingos might not be native to the USA, but they're super popular there! You see them everywhere, from zoos and aquariums to pictures and even plastic yard decorations. It's like a pink flamingo party across the country!
  5. Flock Favorites: These pink birds are very social. They live in large flocks, sometimes with thousands of other flamingos! They even work together to raise their young, taking turns keeping the chicks safe and warm.
