The Fox and the Goat in the Well
One sunny day, a clever fox was walking through the fields when—oops!—he slipped and fell into a well. It wasn’t very deep, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t climb out. He sat there for a long time, thinking and waiting. Then along came a thirsty goat. The goat peeked into the well and saw the fox sitting there.
“Hello, Fox!” said the goat. “Is the water down there nice?” “Oh, it’s the best water in the whole land!” said the fox with a sly smile. “Jump in and have a drink! There’s plenty for both of us.”
The goat was so thirsty, he didn’t stop to think. He jumped right in and started drinking. But guess what? The fox had a plan! He quickly climbed onto the goat’s back, stepped on his horns, and leaped right out of the well! “Wait!” cried the goat. “Help me out too!” But the fox was already trotting away. He turned and said, “Next time, think before you jump!”
Look before you leap.
