A zoo is a place where living animals, especially wild ones, are kept for people to look at and for scientific research and study. The word "zoo" is short for zoological garden. Zoology is the science and study of animals.

A zookeeper is a person who manages zoo animals that are kept in captivity for conservation or to be displayed to the public. They are usually responsible for the feeding and daily care of the animals.
