Letter I Inn Bible Alphabet Preschool Lesson Plan Printable Activities and Worksheets

This activity is part of the Bible alphabet A to Z available in D'Nealian and Standard block handwriting formats.
Social studies > What is an inn?: Ask children what they think is an an inn. Discuss some basic facts and show some images. Look and compare to other types of dwellings. Alphabet Activities: Explain that the word inn exhibits the short i sound. Examples: igloo, iguana, and ink Handwriting worksheet tips: Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and explain the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly. During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process. Have the children find all the letter A's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle them. Children ages 3+: Letter I words: Letter I Worksheet Program and Mini-Book (short I sound) can be used as part of program of activities to reinforce letter practice and to identify related words. Read suggested instructions for using the worksheet and mini-book. You can also display letter posters and coloring pages or make a letter A home or classroom book. Letter I Word Search & Handwriting Practice (select short I version): The four-word search game features letter I words with pictures and handwriting practice. Advanced Handwriting Practice: 1. Print your choice of printable lined-paper. Have children draw and color an inn behind the lined paper. 2. Drawing and writing paper: encourage children to draw and color an inn and practice writing letter I i. Bible activities: The Birth of Jesus: Read and discuss Luke 2:1-7 (ICV version) "She gave birth to her first son. There were no rooms left in the inn.
