"Jack be Nimble" is an English language nursery rhyme recorded around 1815, but it may have been published earlier in 1765. Jumping over a candlestick was done for fortunetelling and a sport. If you jumped over it, without extinguishing the flame it meant good luck.The most common lyrics are:
Jack be quick,
Jack jump over the candlestick.
Children under age 2 and older will benefit greatly from singing, using puppets, stuffed animals, and/or finger plays with nursery rhymes. |
