Activity > Celebrate Christmas and the desserts of the season
This rhyme is appropriate for the Christmas and winter season. Little Jack Horner eats a Christmas pie that has been prepared since medieval times in England, and the term plum referred to raisins, rather than the actual fruit. Similar Christmas deserts are: Christmas pudding or plum pudding and the English tradition of a Christmas cake served in many countries that began as a plum porridge. "Jack Tales" · Letter J is for Jack: Jack tales feature Jack, an English archetypal hero and a stock character in legends, fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Jack is often portrayed as young, a bit lazy and even foolish, but emerges triumphant using his wit. Jack also appears in Appalachian folklore.
