Key plot points
- The trade: Jack's mother sends him to sell their cow, but he trades it to a mysterious old man for magic beans.

- The castle: Jack climbs the beanstalk to a castle in the clouds, where he encounters a ogre or giant and his wife.
- The treasures: He hides from the ogre or giant and steals a bag of gold, a hen that lays golden eggs, and a magical harp that sings.
- The climax: The giant chases Jack down the beanstalk, but Jack's mother helps him chop it down, causing the giant to fall to his death.
- The resolution: Jack and his mother live a life of luxury, and the story concludes with themes of bravery and the dangers of greed.

Grow a bean plant indoors in a small sturdy pot, once it sprouts
insert a 6-9 inch thin branch or stick, gently in the pot and help the
plant climb the branch. Help your child make a small drawing of
himself and tape to the top of the branch to pretend he is
"Jack" climbing. the beanstalk.
