ABOUT DUCKS:
  1. Ducky Double Life: Wild or Farmyard Fun! Ducks are amazing birds that come in both wild and domesticated varieties. Wild ducks live free in ponds, lakes, and rivers, while domesticated ducks live on farms and might even waddle around your local park!
  2. Feathery Travelers! Some wild ducks are migratory birds. Twice a year, they take incredible journeys, flying long distances to find warmer weather or better breeding grounds. Imagine a flying V formation of ducks against a blue sky!
  3. More Than Just Quacking! Ducks are talkative birds, but their quacks aren't the only sounds they make! They can whistle, coo, and even grunt depending on what they're up to.
  4. From Farm to Fashion: Downy Ducks! Did you know some domesticated ducks are raised for their feathers? The soft feathers under a duck's outer feathers are called down, and it's used to make cozy jackets, pillows, quilts, and sleeping bags!
  5. Dabbling Delights: Duck Dinners! Some domesticated ducks are raised for their meat. You might have enjoyed a delicious roast duck or duck sauce at a restaurant!
  6. More Quacking Fun Facts! A group of ducks swimming together is called a "raft" or a "flotilla," and baby ducks are called ducklings! Ducklings are precocial, which means they can walk and swim right after hatching – talk about independent little swimmers!
